Rev. Joel C. Rogers, C.P.M., Pastor

Picture
Father Joel C. Rogers, C.P.M., the son of James and Bernadette Rogers, was born in 1968 and grew up in Missouri. He was raised with nine sisters and four brothers. After graduating from El Dorado Springs High School in 1986, he attended classes at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri for five years. He received a Bachelor's Degree with a major in French and a minor in English, but he felt the God was calling him to pursue the priesthood. Joel moved to Warrensburg to work for Gates Energy Products as a production associate. While working he saved his money to travel around looking for a religious community. In the winter of 1993, he traveled around the United States visiting religious communities, and he visited the Fathers of Mercy, a religious congregation which preaches parish missions to teach the basics of the Catholic faith and staffs rural parishes. He joined the Fathers of Mercy in the fall of 1993, finished his novitiate with them, and went to the seminary at St. Philip's Seminary in Toronto, Canada for five years. Receiving his philosophy and theology degrees, he was ordained as a deacon in the spring of 1999. He served as deacon of St. Helen and Our Lady of the Caves Churches with Fr. Ken Frye and Fr. Jon Molloy, and was ordained a priest on June 10, 2000. He continued to serve at St. Helen's and Our Lady of the Caves Churches as an associate pastor for Fr. Peter Stryker. When Fr. Peter Stryker became Pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Russellville, KY in the spring of 2002, Fr. Joel became pastor of St. Helen and Our Lady of the Caves. He has served as pastor since that time.
